This last week has been so amazing... My husband is home again...he no longer has to go to New York and he doesn't have to go at sea again at the end of the month! Not only that, Easter, or better known as Resurrection Day, was awesome and definitely something to celebrate. Jesus conquered the grave and fufilled what was supposed to happen for US. Annnnd, Kevin proposed to Alaina the night before Easter!
This is SO exciting for our families!!! Benjie and I came to their house, not knowing what had just happened within the last hour, but something was just...off. Alaina had a HUGE smile on her face (which isn't unusual when she sees us...Haha!), and it seemed like she had something to say, but wasn't really saying it. I was looking around the room, and Priscilla & Dan (Kevin's parents) were both smiling at Alaina, all exchanging looks. Then she whipped out her hand, and there was the ring! I am SOOO happy for these two. It is such a great time in their lives right now and they couldn't be more ready for it. They've completely given their lives to the Lord, and He has definitely blessed them because of that.
Kevin did it in such a romantic way, I was fighting my tears when Alaina was describing to me what had happened. (I'm a softy and sucker for romantic stories) For all of you "valley" folks, have you seen that huge Rocky Peak cross on the mountain driving on the 118? Well, there's a trail that you must hike to get up there, and Alaina and Kevin have been talking about doing that for a while. Kevin suggested they made that hike towards the end of the day...the sun was going down and the weather was nice & cool. Kevin talked the security into letting them go up there by letting them in on the plan, and when they made it, they sat up there and prayed together. I can only imagine how humbling it would have been to stand there, underneath that enormous cross, thinking about what it represents. He praised God for allowing such a blessing into his life (Alaina) and then went down on his knees, still holding her hands. Alaina said her ears started ringing and all that could come out was "Shut up! Oh my gosh...Shut up!" LOL! And then of course "YES!" I love it!
Kevin & Alaina, you two are an amazing couple. Seeing the love you have for God and eachother is always refreshing and knowing both of you have your hearts in the right place is awesome. I love you both so much and I can't wait to see how God unfolds your future together.
Here is a quick little snapshot I took this weekend for them. I used Priscilla's Canon since I didn't have my own camera... I'm a Nikonian...so it was SO awkward for me. The zoom is reversed and definitely proved difficult to fight my urge to turn the lens in the opposite direction for what I wanted to do, but I still got the picture I wanted. Keep your eyes open for their engagement session...from MY camera! :)
